PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording paper resistant to contamination with oily substances, by incorporating a specified metallic salt derivative of nitrobenzoic acid into a color forming layer, in a thermal recording paper using a basic colorless dye and an organic color developer. CONSTITUTION:A metallic salt derivative of nitrobenzoic acid of the formula I or II, wherein each of 1-4R is H, NO2 group, halogen group, alkoxy group, alkyl group or the like, M is a polyvalent metal, and n is an integer of 2 or 3, is incorporated into the coloring layer comprising a known colorless or light-colored basic dye based on fluoran or the like and a color developer such as a monophenolic 4-hydroxyphenyl compound and a phthalic acid monoester. Other than the above components, an appropriate binder, a filler or the like is added to the color forming layer. In providing the layer, 3-10 parts of the organic color developer, 1-8 parts of the nitrobenzoic acid derivative and 1-20 parts of the filler are used per 1 part of the dye, and the binder is used in an amount of 10-25 parts in the total solid content. |
