PURPOSE:To improve the effect of design while utilizing used paper to save resources by winding spirally a paper tape around the outer periphery of an iron core in a ring portion of a steering wheel and further winding a design tape around the paper tape to from a transparent protective layer on the outer periphery. CONSTITUTION:A paper tape 3 impregnated with adhesives is wound spirally around a straight bar iron core 2a. The iron core 2 around which the paper tape 3 is wound is cut by a cutter 12 to form a ring blank 4. The ring blank 4 is bent into the form of a ring and both ends are welded to each other. A boss plate 6 is secured fixedly to the ring blank 7 to form a steering blank 7. And the ring portion 2 and spoke portion 5 of the steering blank 7 are formed with a desired pattern such as moire, flower. Around this steering blank is wound a design tape 8 impregnated with adhesives to produce a steering wheel 1. After solidification of the adhesives, the adhesives become transparent protective layers 9 for covering the outer periphery of the design tape 8. |
