PURPOSE:To prevent jamming of bobbins by providing a sensor for detecting jamming of bobbins in the way of bobbin return path arranged along a winding unit in an automatic winder and interrupting discharge of bobbin onto the return path from winding unit upon detection of jamming. CONSTITUTION:A full bobbin feed path 1 and empty bobbin return path 2 are arranged along a winder W juxtaposed with many winding units U1-U30 and made continuous in the preparation area S to form a closed loop. Sensors PHO 11, 12, 15, 16 for detecting the bobbin are provided at proper position in the return path 2 or bypath line 6 to provide the output signals to a controller 27. Upon detection of jamming of bobbin through any one of said sensors PHO 11, 12, 15, 16, a signal is produced to temporarily block discharge of bobbin from each winding unit U1-U30 onto the return path 2 thus to prevent jamming or tilting of bobbin on the return path 2. |
