PURPOSE:To enhance measuring accuracy and to prevent the damage of the leading end of a cutting tool, by providing a plurality of micrometer heads to perform measurement in the same state as an actually rotating state. CONSTITUTION:At first, the leading end of a cutting tool 4 attached to a tool holder 3 is brought into contact with the anvil of a micrometer 10(A) to read graduations. When the bite holder 3 is rotated in this state, the blade chip of the cutting tool 4 is damaged and, therefore, the micrometer head 10(A) is escaped from the cutting tool 4. In the next step, the bite holder 3 is rotated by 180 deg. and the leading end of the cutting tool 4 attached to the tool holder 3 is read from graduations by the anvil of a micrometer head 10(B). |
