PURPOSE:To form uniformly fine structure having no segregation and to improve durability of a bearing by fitting and fixing a bearing metal to the inside surface of a cylindrical backing metal, melting the metal with a laser beam and cooling quickly the molten metal thereby lining the metal to the backing metal. CONSTITUTION:Tin is plated on the inside surface side of a cylindrical backing metal 1 formed of a steel and after a rolled sheet 2 of a material equivalent to a white metal is cut to a required size, the sheet is molded by pressing to the inside surface side of the metal 1 and the end part of the sheet is tack welded 3. The metal 1 is then installed on rollrs 4 of a constant speed rotating mechanism and thereafter a turnback mirror 7 and a lens 8 are so adjusted that a laser beam 6 is condensed to the end part of the bearing. The metal 1 on the rollers 4 is rotated at a specified speed and at the same time the beam 6 is moved at a specified speed in the axial direction from the end of the metal 1. The weld zone is shielded with gaseous argon in this stage and while the metal 1 is cooled, the entire part of the metal 1 is lined by welding at a narrow width over the entire circumference. |
