PURPOSE:To obtain a gel which is suitable for migration of a biopolymer such as protein, nucleic acid material or the like and is hardly damageable by incorporating further a water soluble polymer and specific modifier into an acrylamide compd. and crosslinking agent in the presence of water and manufacturing the gel medium for electrophoresis. CONSTITUTION:A gel medium for electrophoresis contg. 1-30wt% crosslinking agent such as methylene bis-acrylamide, ethylene diacrylate or the like by the total weight of an acrylamide compd. such as acrylamide, N-methylacrylamide or the like and said crosslinking agent, 1-100wt% a water soluble polymer such as polyacrylamide or the like of an addition polymn. type or a water soluble polymer of a condensation polymn. type such as polyalkylene glycol or the like and further contg. an anionic surface active agent such as sodium dodecyl sulfate as a modifier is prepd. by a casting polymn. method. The gel medium is improved in brittleness. The gel medium which is hardly damaged in post processing or handling for migration of protein and nucleic acid material and has excellent separating power and migration characteristic is thus obtd. |
