PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber from shifting and reduce connection loss by tapering the connection-side end surface of the optical fiber insertion hole of a ferrule attached to an optical connector into a tapered opening part, fusing the projection part of the inserted optical fiber to a larger diameter, and then fixing the optical fiber in the opening part of the ferrule. CONSTITUTION:The tapered opening part 211 for inserting optical fiber core is formed in the connection end surface of the optical fiber core insertion hole 21 bored in the ferrule 2 made of ceramic, and said opening part 211 is made coincident with the connection side end surface of a connector 1. Then, an optical fiber 3 and an optical fiber core 31 are coated with an adhesive, the optical fiber core 31 is inserted into the optical fiber insertion hole 21 of the ferrule 2 until its tip part projects slightly, and the optical fiber 3 is also inserted into the ferrule insertion hole 11 of the connector 1 and adhered. The projection part of the optical fiber core 31 is heated near the ferrule 2 to form a larger-diameter core part 311, and the optical fiber 3 is drawn as shown by an arrow B and then the core projecting from the ferrule 2 is cut and polished. |
