PURPOSE:To measure the angle of inclination of a motorcycle during its run without any error even in case of an increase in bank angle nor the influence of centrifugal force by providing three acceleration sensors and a vehicle speed sensor. CONSTITUTION:Acceleration sensors 1 and 2 are provided symmetrically about the center plane of the body of the motorcycle to detect the acceleration perpendicular to the plane. An acceleration sensor 3 is provided on the center plane and under the motorcycle body to detect the acceleration perpendicular to the plane. The motorcycle speed sensor 4 detects the running speed of the motorcycle. A microcomputer 7 which receives the outputs A1-A3 of the respective sensors and (v) calculates the angle theta2 of inclination of the motorcycle from an equation I . In the equation, DELTAA is ¦A3-A1¦ or ¦A3-A2¦ and L1 is the height of the sensor 1 or 2 from the ground; and L2 is the distance of the sensors 1 and 2 from the center plane of the motorcycle body, and L3 is the height of the sensor 3 from the ground. Consequently, the angle of inclination of the motorcycle is measured without any error even in case of an increase in band angle nor the influence of centrifugal force. |
