A portable auxiliary fastening device of a door comprises a fastening bar 10 having a long thin flat portion with protrusions along at least one of the two opposed longitudinal edges thereof and provided with a laterally offset anchor 14 such that the fastening bar can be arranged to extend forwardly between a frame and a door or drawer when the latter is in its closed position with said anchor engaging a part of the frame to secure the bar against forward displacement, a collar 26 having an axial bore 28 with at least one radially extending groove 30 to enable said collar to be slid over said bar to a position adjacent a front face of the door or drawer and the frame, and having recess formations 29 in said bore communicating with said groove or grooves whereby the collar is adapted to be rotated to locate some of said protrusions in said recess formations to secure the collar against axial movement along said bar, the device having means adapted to receive releasable locking means to prevent rotation of said collar after said protrusions have been engaged with said recess formations. In the construction shown the bar has protrusions 11, 12 along both edges and the collar has one groove only, the mass formations being portions of a screw thread in the bore. The releasable locking means as a padlock and the means which it engages is a pin which spans or a notch 32 in the collar. In a modification, the collar is circular instead of being hexagonal as shown, it has two grooves 30 and the means engaged by the padlock is a curved lever product on a pin so that it extends through a notch similar to the notch 32 so that one end engages the bar, the opposite end portion having a hole for the padlock which limits its rotation so that the bar cannot be aligned with the grooves 30. |
