PURPOSE:To obtain a photoconductive member which has high sensitivity particularly with long wavelength light and has excellent durability, etc. by forming a photoreceptive layer consisting of three layer regions which consist of an amorphous material contg. Si and Ge and in which C is distributed at different concentration in the layer thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptive layer 102 contg. Si and Ge having the concentration distribution large in the thickness direction of the base side or uniform over the entire layer is formed on a conductive base 101 in order of three layer regions 103, 106, 105 having different contents of C in the layers by making the respective concn. of C as C1, C3, C2. The region 106 is so formed that the concn. C3 thereof alone does not attain the max. concentration and that if either one of C1-C3 is zero the other two are not zero and are not equal. H or halogen is further incorporated into the layer 102. The regions 104, 105 prevent the charge injection from an outside surface 103 and the base side and the region 106 improves the transport efficiency of the generated photocarrier. The photoconductive characteristic is thus stabilized and the excellent image is obtd. |
