摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the immersion of outside air into a fuel electrode chamber and the liquid short-circuit by providing the communicating portion of an anolyte supplying passage and an anolyte exhausting passage in a position higher than the upper end of each unit cell, and immersing each unit cell with an anolyte when not circulating the anolyte, and permitting the anolyte in the communicating portion to flow out into an anolyte tank. CONSTITUTION:A substantial cell portion 1 has an anolyte chamber 2 and an air chamber 3, and the lower portion of the anolyte chamber 2 is connected to an anolyte supplying manifold 4 and the upper portion is connected to an anolyte exhausting manifold 5. An anolyte supplying passage 7 which communicates between adjacent cells in a position substantially higher than the upper end of the substantial cell portion 1 is provided, and it is connected to an anolyte supplying manifold 4 by a branching pipe 8 which is independent every each unit cell. The anolyte which has passed through each unit cell is exhausted into an anolyte exhausting block 51 which communicates with the anolyte exhausting manifold of each unit cell in the upper portion of the laminated cells 11, and the anolyte overflows to an anolyte tank 14 through a connecting pipe 12 to the anolyte tank. Thus, the immersion of outside air into the surface of a fuel electrode is eliminated since the laminated cells 11 is filled with the anolyte, up to the upper end thereof.
