PURPOSE:To provide an electrode plate whose dimensional accuracy is high, performance is good, and cost is low by arranging shorter fibers in projected strip part of an electrode plate and its neighborhood than those in other portions of the plate. CONSTITUTION:Carbon fiber having a length of 0.4mm., alpha-starch, and novolak type phenol resin are kneaded, and water is added to this mixture to form paste 8a. Carbon fiber having a length of 2mm., alpha-starch, and phenol resin are kneaded, and water is added to this mixture to form paste 8b. The paste 8a is uniformly spreaded in a mold 9 which has gooves for forming a projected strip part 7b of electrode plate, then the paste 8b is spreaded on the paste 8a, and pressure is applied at 100-120 deg.C for several minutes. Then they are placed in an atmosphere of nitrogen at 400 deg.C or more for several hours. During this process, phenol resin in the paste is softened to bond fibers, and alpha-starch is decomposed to form voids. |
