<p>The powders are prepd by contacting a solution of a thorium chelate where the anion is a beta -diketone, and a solid or liquid phase contg the metallic constituent (as metal, alloy or reducible metal compound), and removing the solvent from the thorium chelate solution; the thorium chelate solution contains a polymer which will not leave residues on pyrolysis, and will not pass through a liquid stage before evaporation or decomposition (pref polymethyl methacrylate). Eliminates migration of the solute to the surface on drying, giving more homogeneous products useful as catalysts, or in powder metallurgy (sintering etc).</p> |
