PURPOSE:To prevent chipping by mixing one or two kinds of oxides of silicon and iron, one or more than two kinds of oxides of chlomium and tungsten and silicon carbide each in a specific proportion to composite ceramic consisting of specific amounts of titanium carbide and aluminium oxide occupying the rest part. CONSTITUTION:When the material consisting of 20-25wt% of titanium carbide and aluminium oxide occupying the rest part is hot-pressed in a graphite die, 0.05-5.0pts.wt. of one or two kinds of oxides of silicon or iron, 0.05-5.0pts.wt. of one or more than two kinds of oxides of chlomium or tungsten and 5-30pts. wt. of silicon carbide are added to 100pts.wt. of titanium carbide and aluminium oxide. The silicon oxide and the iron oxide, in the process of sintering them, repeat to react with the titanium carbide or graphite to produce silicon carbide, and react again with oxigen in the aluminium oxide to produce silicon oxide and iron oxide. The surfaces of the particles of titanium carbide and aluminium oxide are thereby activated so that the bond among the particles can be strengthened. The abrasion resistance can be also improved by adding silicon carbide. |
