A clutch device for gearbox shiftable under load comprises two friction clutches, especially multi-plate clutches, alternately operatable by pressure medium actuated pistons. The pistons act on the friction bodies or plates by way of axially displaceable pressure discs. In order to ensure that the force-closed friction clutch maintains its clutch position even in the event of a failure of the pressure medium supply, without the other friction clutch being engaged, the pressure discs (13, 14) of the two clutches (1, 2) have inclined or tapered stop faces (15, 16). These, together with supporting rings (17, 18), form wedge gaps (19, 20) for wedge members, preferably spheres (21, 22). The pistons (7, 8) have inclined or tapered surfaces (23, 24) facing the pressure discs (13, 14) and acting on the wedge members (21, 22) in the direction into the wedge gaps (19, 20). These tapered surfaces merge into inner circumferential surfaces (25, 26) extending away from the pressure discs (13, 14) with a constant or increasing radial distance from the clutch axis, the pistons (7, 8) of the two clutches (1, 2) being connected for the transmission of movement. <IMAGE> |
