The device is noteworthy in that the lifting beams P with a lifting bar 2 equipped with terminal engagement hooks 2a for the loops 4a of the strap 4 comprise a guide for the strands of the chain Ca of the chain block C, whilst each strap 4 bears on profiled struts 6 with an automatic means for fixing to and disengaging from the longitudinal member of the chassis or onto places of the bodywork, with a view to obtaining the passage of the said strap 4 below the bottom of the car body and of the adjacent transverse profiled part, in such a manner as to avoid any deterioration during lifting.
