An ironing board cover having a pad structure for resting a hot iron thereon that extends transversely across the cover and is composed of upper and lower layers of fiber glass or other no-scorch material and a layer of insulating pad between the upper and lower layers. The pad is fixed to the upper surface of the cover along a transverse edge facing the head end of the ironing board with means providing a relatively smooth and continuous surface from the cover onto the pad.
