The device relates to slaving the translational displacement of a working member to the power absorbed by this member. It relates to a device which comprises a sensor 3 which determines the pressure of a hydraulic fluid between a cycloidal hydraulic motor 4 and a flow rate limiter 2, so that the pressure is representative of the power absorbed by the motor 4. This signal is processed in digital form by a processing device 5 which controls an interface 6 comprising a distributor for power supply control of a member for adjusting 7 the distance separating the brush 8 from the object 9.
