In a projection-form grinding machine, the image of the workpiece (1) to be ground and of the grinding wheel to be machined is projected by a projecting device onto a projection screen (15). The grinding wheel (3) is guided in such a manner that it follows a predetermined reference contour (31) on the projection screen (15). The projection lens used is of a divided design and comprises an axially fixed part-lens (21) and an axially adjustable eyepiece (19) for focusing. The eyepiece (19) is axially adjusted for focusing such that its focal plane coincides with the clamping plane of the workpiece table (2). The workpiece table (2) is arranged fixed to a frame; focusing is achieved simply by adjusting the eyepiece (19), without any change in the predetermined enlargement occurring. <IMAGE>
