PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound usefus as a water and oil repellent, easily, in high yield, by treating a specific fluorine-containing unsaturated carbonyl compound with microorganisms, thereby selectively reducing only the double bond while keeping the carbonyl group from reduction. CONSTITUTION:The fluorine-containing carbonyl compound of formula I (Rf is fluorine-containing aliphatic group; R<1>, R<2> and R<3> are H, aliphatic group or aromatic group) (e.g. 5,5,5-trifluoro-2-penten-4-one) is treated with microorganisms such as baker's yeast in an aqueous solution containing starch, etc., and stirred for 3 days at 35-37 deg.C. The reaction mixture is separated into the solid phase and the liquid phase by centrifugal separator. The liquid phase is acidified and extracted with ether, and the solvent is distilled off from the extract to obtain the objective compound of formula II (e.g. 1,1,1-trifluorogentan-2-one, etc.). |
