A height adjustment mechanism for a garden tool comprises a cylindrical height adjustment member (7, Figure 1) rotatably mounted in the body of the tool and coupled at its inner end to a roller 40 of the tool. An axle 14 on member 7 co-operates with a centrally located bore 14a of roller 40 whereby the axis of rotation of the roller 40 is off set from that of the cylindrical member 7 so that, by rotating the latter, the height of the tool body from the ground can be adjusted. A locking projection (19, Figure 2) is formed on a tongue (15) in the cylindrical member (7) and can engage in a plurality of recesses 37 in the tool body to lock the cylindrical member (7) in a plurality of discrete rotational positions. The tongue (15) carries a button (18) by which it can be depressed, to release the lock and permit rotation of the cylindrical member. <IMAGE> |
