PURPOSE:The titled composition having extremely improved flame retardance without lowering heat resistance, obtained by blending polyphenylene ether with a phosphonitrilic compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) Polyphenylene ether, or (B) a mixture of it and a polystyrenic resin is blended with (C) a phosphonitrilic comound obtained by combination of structural units shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are 1-20C aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group, which may be replaced with halogen). An aromatic hydrocarbon wherein R1 and R2 in the group can not be replaced with hologen is preferable as the component C, and an amount of it blended is 1-30wt% based on the whole composition. It may be effectively blended with a phosphoric ester. A mixture of impact-resistant polystyrene and 20-90wt% polyphenylene ether is used as the component B. |
