Organobismuth polymers (I) prepd. by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with an organobismuth cpd. RBiX2 or Ar3BiX2 in the presence or absence of a polyether or a polyester and where R = 1-20C alkyl, 2-20C alkenyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl (mono-cyclic); Ar = Aryl (monocyclic); X = HO(R') COO, NH2(R') COO-, HO(R')S- where R'=1-20C alkylene, 2-20C-alkenylene, phenylene or aralkylene. Germicides (high activity against Gram +ve and Gram -ve bacteria, fungi and yeasts). Active in form of a foamed polyurethane. (I) may be incorporated in a variety of products or may replace part or whole of a polymethane polymer in a product.
