PURPOSE:To obtain an image having high quality by providing a photoreceptive layer contg. N and consisting of three layer regions having different densities distributed in the thickness direction of the layer in this order from a base side. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive member has a base for the photoconductive member and a photoreceptive layer which is constituted of an amorphous material contg. Si and Ge and exhibits photoconductivity. Said photoreceptive layer contains N and is provided with the respective 1st, 3rd and 2nd layer regions of which the densities distributed in the layer thickness thereof are respectively Cl, C3, C2 successively from the base side in this order. The photoconductive member having such layer constitution has excellent electrical, optical and using environmental characteristics. Said member has no influence of the residual potential on the formation of an image at all and has a stable electrical characteristic, high sensitivity and high SN ratio when said member is applied particularly as an image forming member for electrophotography. The member has also excellent resistance to light fatigue and repetitive characteristic and yields repeatedly the image having high density, sharp halftones, high resolution and high quality. |
