ARC WELDING METHOD USING CONSUMABLE ELECTRODE

PURPOSE:To decrease generation of spatters and to improve considerably welding efficiency with shielded gas arc welding consisting essentially of CO2 by performing droplet transfer synchronized with a pulse and preventing the short circuit between a wire, droplet and a material to be welded. CONSTITUTION:A consumable electrode 1 is fed into a shielding gas consisting of CO2 or a gaseous mixture composed essentially of CO2. Peck current IP and base current IB which are alternately repeated are impressed betwen the electrode 1 and a material 3 to be welded to generate an arc. High current is supplied in the initial period of the peak current to detach the droplet 2 at the top end of the elctrode 1 by pinching force. The droplet 2 is then formed at the top end of the electrode 1 and the droplet is shaped in the stage of the base current.
