PURPOSE:To improve the life of bearing in a high-temp. atmosphere by forming a layer of lead having lubricity, through a medium layer made of a metal whose fusibility with respect to each of both adjoining metals is greater than the fusibility between a base-material metal and said layer of lead. CONSTITUTION:To obtain a double layer 5 covering the surface of a ball 1, a covering layer 7 of a metal, whose fusibility with respect to each of both adjoining metals is greater than the fusibility of lead, having lubricity and which is formed as the top layer 6, with respect to the base material metal of the ball 1, is previously formed on the surface of the clean ball 1 before being assembled as a bearing, as a medium layer by means of ion plating. And, then, said layer 6 of lead having lubricity is formed on this layer 7, as the top layer, by means of ion plating. Thereby, the life of a bearing in a high-temp. atmosphere can be improved. |
