PURPOSE:To stably detect the injecting state of ink droplets by providing a function for absorbing the ink droplets to a detecting electrode, thereby preventing the ink droplets from raising. CONSTITUTION:Ink droplets 7 from an ink jet head 1 moved out of a recording range are charged to a charging electrode 3, and absorbed to a detecting electrode 21 having ink absorbing ability formed of conductive sponge. In this case, the voltage corresponding to the induced current generated to the electrode 21 is detected by the detector 6 to detect the clogging of the head. On the other hand, the droplets 7 absorbed to the electrode 21 are dropped to a retainer 22 by the gravity. The ink droplets are prevented from raising on the detecting electrode by the absorbing function of the detecting electrode, the electrodes 3 and 21 are held at the prescribed interval therebetween to stably detect the injecting state of the ink droplets. |
