PURPOSE:To make a roll storing equipment compact by detecting presence of a roll while the roll rides a running platform and selecting a suitable height, at which the running fork moves in the lateral direction, according to the diameter of a roll to be stored. CONSTITUTION:An ascending/descending carriage 6 of a storing/discharging crane ascends/descends along a pillar 7. A running fork 5 is provided on the descending/ascending carriage 6 in such a manner that the fork 5 can freely move back and forth in the horizontal direction, and a presence-of-a-roll detector 8 is installed on a loading platform 5a situated at the tip of the running fork 5. This presence-of-a-roll detector 8 is provided with a movable plate 8a as a switch actuator, which is pressed down by a large-diameter roll 3 or a small-diameter roll 4 when the roll 3 or 4 steps on the loading platform 5a. Accordingly, the height of the running fork 5, at which the running fork 5 moves, can be selected in accordance with the diameter of the roll to be stored. Therefore, the equipment for roll storage can be made compact, enhancing the efficiency in roll storing work. |
