PURPOSE:To produce the titled compound useful as a raw material of oxalic acid, etc., by contacting carbon monoxide with a nitrous acid ester in vapor phase in the presence of a solid catalyst obtained by supporting a platinum- group metal or its salt and a III-group metal or its oxide on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:The titled compound is produced in high yield, stably for a long period, suppressing the lowering of the space-time yield at the initial stage of the reaction and after a reaction for a long period and the lowering of the selectivity, with elongated catalyst life, by contacting carbon monoxide with a nitrous acid ester in vapor phase in the presence of a solid catalyst obtained by supporting (A) a platinum-group metal such as Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, Ir, etc. (especially Pd) and (B) a III-group metal such as Al, Ga, In, La, B, Sc, Y, etc. (especially Al, Ga, In or La) on a carrier. The atomic ratio of the metal (A:B) is preferably 1,000:1-1: 10, especially 500:1-1:5, and the amount of supported A component is preferably 0.01-10wt%, especially 0.1-2wt% in terms of Pd, based on the car- rier. |
