PURPOSE:To achieve a stable fluidity of the negative agent of an alkaline battery by preparing the negative agent by adding zinc oxide powder to the amalgamation product of zinc powder containing at least 90pts.wt. of spherical zinc particles of 100-200 mesh. CONSTITUTION:Zinc powder containing at least 90wt% of spherical zinc particles of 100-200 mesh is suspended in a warm alkaline water. Next, the thus prepared suspension is combined with 10pts.wt. (to 100pts.wt. of the above zinc powder) of mercury to perform amalgamation before the resulting amalgamated matter is subjected to vacuum drying. Next, after 100pts.wt. of amalgamated zinc powder is mixed with 0.5pts.wt. of zinc oxide powder with 8mum grain diameter to make a negative agent, this is used to form a negative electrode 7. After that, the thus formed negative electrode 7 is combined with a positive electrode 1, a separator 3 and an electrolyte-absorbing body 4, thereby constituting a button- type silver oxide battery. As a result, the contact among the particles of the zinc powder is effectively suppressed to prevent their cohesion. Consequently, the discharge characteristic of the battery is enhanced through the improvement of the fluidity of the negative agent. |
