PURPOSE:To improve the sealing performance of a sealed battery by fixing an anode terminal having a safety valve in the central penetrating hole of a sealing plate with an annular gasket interposed by the use of an annular pressing plate and welding the outer periphery of the sealing plate to an exterior case also serving as a negative terminal to seal the battery. CONSTITUTION:A sealing plate 7' for a sealed battery has a penetrating hole in its center and a concave area is formed in the periphery of the penetrating hole. Next, after an anode terminal 6'' having a safety valve is placed in the concave area with an insulating gasket 5' interposed, an annular pressing plate 10 having an L-shaped cross section is fixed to the sealing plate 7' by welding. Then, the pressing plate 10 is inwardly curled with a metallic press mold to strongly press the gasket 5' thereby holding the anode terminal 6'' by the gasket 5'. After that, the periphery of the sealing plate 7' is welded to an exterior case 4'', thereby constituting a complete battery. As a result, the safety valve can be easily installed to make the electrode terminal and the liquid leakage resistance of the battery is improved. Moreover, such a procedure can be easily applied to a non- cylindrical battery. |
