The method for producing an insulation product comprises joining thermally and/or acoustically insulating material e.g. glass wool or rock wool) and a covering sheet (e.g. paper) to form a board or blanket whereby this sheet extends over at least one side of the material to near opposite longitudinal edges thereof. Along at least one of these edges, a thin flexible strip is secured to form a laterally projecting flange (to produce a so-called staple flange blanket). The strip may be secured to the covering sheet, preferably by adhesive and the flange may have at least one side wholly or partly coated with adhesive, pref. covered by a removable protection (siliconised paper) (see NLP 8303106).
