Mechanical transmission for pocket aspirator - uses tight wound spiral provoking piston displacement within cylinder (SE 6.2.84)

The transmission provides linear movement of an object via a flexible transmission element coupled to a displacement disc (20) and allowing the movement to be transmitted along a curved or linear path. The transmission element uses a tight-wound spiral (23) with the dia. of the winding turns and their relative spacing determined by the length of the transmission path, so that no guides are required. Pref. the transmission provokes displacement of an aspirator piston (21) within a cylinder (22), the windings of the transmission spiral (23) lying in contact with one another. One end of the spiral (23) is attached to a washer (27) which moves along a threaded rod (28) when this is rotated and along a linear guide rail (26) at the opposite side. The spiral (23) is fed around a U shaped guide path (29) with its opposite end attached to the piston (21) which follows the washer displacement.
