<p>Acridone dyes for dyeing natural or synthetic resins, waxes, lacquers, plastics, e.g. of cellulose ethers and esters, pref. spin-dyeing acetate rayon, giving green-tinged fast shades, have formula (I) (where n is a +ve integer, esp. 1, one of X is -NO2, -CN or a sulphonamide gp. and the other X is -NO2 or H; one Y is H and the other Y is H, halogen or a sulphonamide gp. and one of X and Y, esp. X, is a sulphonamide gp. linked to the acridone structure by its -SO2- bridge). They are prepd. from cpds. (II) (where one X' is -NO2, -CN or -SO3H and the other X' is -NO2 or H; one Y' is H and the other Y' is H, halogen or -SO3H and one of X' and Y' is -SO3H) by sulphohalogenation ring-closure and amidation.</p> |
