The door or window guard strip prevents fingers being trapped in the hinge on shutting. Each strip is preferably in one piece, of constant thickness and cross-section. It can comprise stiff and flexible parts extending parallel to each other in the lengthwise direction. The flexible parts are designed so that from the extended position they can fold to an acute angle in one direction only, preventing the strip penetrating into the hinge opening.
