1,201,128. Photo-conductive composition. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 20 March, 1968 [31 March, 1967; 7 April, 1967], No. 13587/68. Heading H1K. Photo-conductive cadmium selenide or sulphoselenide is prepared by adding a solution containing Ag or Cu to the selenide or sulphoselenide, drying the mixture, sintering in an atmosphere containing free oxygen, pulverizing the sintered composition in water, washing with water, wetting the fine grains with a solution containing Br, I and/or Cl and Zn, drying the mixture, sieving to remove large grains, sintering in an atmosphere containing free oxygen, cooling, sieving, adding sulphur and heating the resultant composition in an inert gas and then in vacuo. In the embodiments the first solution may contain Cu(NO 3 ) 2 and the second solution CdBr and NH 4 Br together with Zn(NO 3 ) 2 , ZnBr, ZnI or ZnSO 4 . CuCl 2 , CuBr 2 or CuSO 4 may be used in place of Cu(NO 3 ) 2 . In an alternative embodiment the zinc compound may be added prior to the first heating step. The photo-conductive material may be used in a solid-state image converter by stacking layers of the material and an electroluminescent material in tiers and applying electrodes. The electrodes may be joined to the material using ethyl cellulose. |
