A polyblend comprises (A) a matrix of an interpolymer consisting predominantly of a monovinvlidene or monovinyl aromatic monomer and an unsaturated nitrile, (B) a first graft copolymer having a rubber substrate and a superstrate of an interpolymer consisting predominantly of a monovinylidene or monovinyl aromatic monomer and an unsaturated nitrile, said first graft copolymer having a superstrate to substrate ratio by weight of 5 to 35 : 100 and (c) a second graft copolymer having a rubber substrate and a superstrate of an interpolymer consisting predominantly of a monovinylidene or monovinyl aromatic monomer and an unsaturated nitrile, said second graft copolymer having a superstrate to substrate ratio by weight of 50 to 250 : 100, said first and second graft copolymers constituting 1 to 70% by weight of said polyblend and said first graft copolymer constituting 20 to 97% of the total weight of combined graft copolymers. The composition is produced by blending together the two graft copolymers with, if necessary, additional interpolymer of the type specified under (A) to provide the required amount of matrix. Preferred rubbers contain at least 50% of a conjugated diene. In examples, two different graft copolymers prepared by grafting styrene and acrylonitrile on to a butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber latex in aqueous emulsion are blended, in some cases with additional styrene-acrylonitrile interpolymer. The graft copolymers may have a number average particle size of from 0-01 to 2-0 microns. |
