PURPOSE:To improve the liquid leakage resistance of a cylindrical air electrode by sticking together superimposed end areas of a sheet-like electrode by means of an ethylenetetrafluoroethylene copolymer resin or the like. CONSTITUTION:A sheet-like layer formed by layering a water-repellent layer having an oxygen-gas-transmitting ability, a porous catalyst layer having an oxygen-gas-reducing ability and a current collector layer, is either curled or folded. Next, the ends of the sheet-like electrode are partially superimposed upon each other to make a cylindrical body. After that, the superimposed areas are fused by heating pressure fixation or the like using either an ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer resin or a water-soluble or water-insoluble nylon resin. By the means mentioned above, an air electrode having an excellent liquid-leakage resistance and characterized by a great mechanical strength and a complete liquid tightness of the fused areas is made. |
