PURPOSE:To raise the absorbability of impact of a fender by a method in which plural grooves are provided in parallel on the impact receiving face below the inner face of the bearing portion, the nearly central part of the bearing portion is projected outwards to make it thicker, and buckling deformation is allowed to slowly begin from the grooves. CONSTITUTION:A rubber or rubbery elastic fender 1 consists of a flat impact receiving end face 2a, vertical impact-receiving sides 2 leading to both sides of the impact-receiving end face, paired bearing portions 4 extending in an unfolding form from both eands of the impact-receiving sides 2, and fitting portions 6 extending outwards in parallel with the end face 2a from the lower end of the bearing portions 4. The thickness of the outside of the nearly central part of the bearing portions is made greater than the other portions and plural grooves 5 in parallel with the impact-receiving end face are provided on the lower part of the inside of the bearing portions. Therefore, buckling deformation is allowed slowly to begin from the grooved portion, and thereby the absorbability of impact energy can be raised. |
