1352201 Underwater storage tanks INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 7 Oct 1971 [8 Oct 1970] 46600/71 Heading B7A [Also in Division E1] A collapsible underwater oil storage tank comprises a tubular body 1 and end members 2, 3 all made of rubberized or plastics coated fabric, and a liquid supply and discharge tube 4 to which the body 1 is clamped by bolts 7 and which may thereby act as a stiffening element. Alternatively a separate solid stiffening element may be provided. Chains 5 secured to the tube 4 anchor the tank to the bottom. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the supply and discharge tube is embedded in a reinforced concrete base cum stiffening element to which the tubular body is clamped and which also anchors the tank. A differential pressure gauge 12 on tube 4 indicates when the tank is full. |
