PURPOSE:To remove the influence of noise on the way of signal transmission by forming a photodetector opposed to a light emitting element on the other side of a rotary disc and connecting the photodetector to a photodetecting device including a photodetecting element. CONSTITUTION:When the light emitting element 18 emits light by electric power from a power supply circuit (not shown) and the light is irradiated to the rotary disc 14, the light is converted into an intermittent optical signal by slits 16 of the rotary disc 14. The optical signal is detected by one leading end part of an optical fiber 20, transmitted through the optical fiber 20, guided to the photodetecting device 22, and converted into an electric signal by the photodetecting element 24 and the electric signal is outputted to the external. Since the photodetecting device 22 for converting the optical signal into the electric signal is arranged outside a rotary encoder 10, the influence of noise can be removed. |
