PURPOSE:To retrieve quickly and accurately the desired position of a video tape by driving the tape until the tape position is roughly detected by the 1st detecting means provided to a tape driving mechanism and then detecting an accurate working position of the tape with the 2nd detecting means which detects an address recorded to the tape itself. CONSTITUTION:When ''scene A'' is retrieved, an address corresponding to the ''scene A'' is first set by a keyboard 10. The 1st comparator 14 compares the contents of a counter 12 with the upper three digits of the set address data. A video tape is set under a quick traversing mode and a rewind mode if the present address of a video track is smaller and larger than the set address respectively. Thus the video tape is transported. The operation of the tape is switched to a reproduction mode when the coincidence is obtained between the displays of both quick traversing and rewind modes. A numeral display conversion device 15 converts an address signal into a 4-digit address data and feeds it to the 4th display device D4 as well as to the 2nd comparator 16. The comparator 16 stops a reproducing action when the coincidence is obtained between both data. |
