The suspension apparatus contains a double-grooved rail (1), arranged on end and extending horizontally, having an upper groove (1a) and a lower groove (1b). Accommodated in the upper groove (1a) are a plurality of tubular pieces (5) through which is displaceably guided a draw cable (3) extending over the entire length of the upper groove (1a). The draw cable (3) and hence the rail (1) are held at the desired height from above. A piping strip (9) carrying a ball-stopping cloth (10) is displaceably accommodated in the groove (1b) of the rail (1). The installation and removal of the ball-stopping cloth (10) in indoor tennis courts is much facilitated by the suspension apparatus, and the time necessary therefor is shortened. The ball-stopping cloth (10) suspended in this apparatus produces an aesthetic effect because the upper line of the ball-stopping cloth is guided in a clean straight line without hanging in folds. <IMAGE>
