PURPOSE:To enable to obtain patterns with a visually fixed density, by providing a means for varying the density of each dot in accordance with the character to be printed, in a dot matrix type printer. CONSTITUTION:When data are supplied from a CPU or the like, the address of the character to be printed is selected by an address decoder 1, a pattern is generated by a character generator 2, a density-controlling code is generated by a density-controlling code generator 2, and data in an amount corresponding to the number of digit places in one line are inputted into shift registers 4-1-4-7 by a signal phis synchronized with the change-over period of a CPU data bus. When printing, density codes are inputted into flip-flops 6-1-6-7 through timers 5-1-5-7 by a signal phip synchronized with a timing signal on the printer side, a pattern code is so controlled as to vary the density of each dot in accordance with the character to be printed, and printing a performed through output buffers 7-1-7-7. Accordingly, a pattern with a visually fixed density can be obtained. |
