Improved prop for public-works machinery of the type comprising a foot whose bottom end receives an anchoring shoe 28, intended to rest on the ground, articulated about a horizontal spindle 31 on that end and whose top end is articulated on the chassis 2 about a vertical spindle 5 to allow this foot to rotate about this spindle 5, characterised in that the rigid foot is formed by at least two separate rigid parts 6, 7 articulated with each other about a horizontal spindle 8 positioned at the end of one of the two parts 6 and 7, and in that the end of one of the two parts 6 and 7 has means 20-26 capable of locking this part 7 of the foot in position with respect to the other part 6.
