PURPOSE:To prevent the reduction of sheet width due to take-off tension and the like from developing and consequently manufacture the sheet member with neither wrinkles nor unevenness in thickness by a method wherein both the side edges of fluid sheet material are fixedly placed onto a pair of narrow belts by means of the interfacial interaction between the sheet material and the belt and solidified. CONSTITUTION:Both the side edges of fluid sheet material 3 formed by extrusion, casting, calendering and the like are fixed onto a pair of narrow belts 1 stretched on a supporting roll 4 by means of the interfacial interaction (mutual adhesion, frictional force, adchoring effect and the like developed between the fluid sheet material and the narrow belt). While advancing said belts 1, the fluid sheet material 3 is solidified by cooling, desolvating, drying or heat treating both the front and rear surfaces of the material 3. Because both the side edges of the fluid sheet member are fixed onto the narrow belts without the smallest strain, no reduction of sheet width (net down) due to the take-off tension or the self- shrinkage is developed, resulting in enabling to manufacture the sheet with neither wrinkles nor unevenness in thickness at high speed. |
