Hydrocarbon conversion catalyst is prepd by incorporating W in erionite by contacting the erionite with a non-aqs. soln. of one or more W - salts. The catalyst has higher selectivity for hydrocarbon conversions than the catalysts of BE 750866. Used in hydrogenative cracking and dehydrogenation of n-paraffins, hydrogenation, hydration and amination of linear alkenes, and dehydrogenation of linear alcohols. The erionite pref. contains 10-30 % wt water and the ammonium form is pref. used. The solvent of the non-aqs. soln is pref.isopropanol, and the salt is WCl6
