The device consists of two mirrors, the first (1) has a convex axisymmetric surface and is located above the observer so as to reflect downwards an image of the surroundings of the observer; the second (2) is planar and is placed under the first in order to reflect the image of the first mirror to the observer. The device allows panoramic surveillance without blind spots or obstructions. In order to use the device on a vehicle, the convex mirror is mounted above the roof vertically in line with the windscreen, and the second mirror is mounted on the dashboard, the image passing through the windscreen. The convex mirror may also be mounted under the roof inside the vehicle. <IMAGE>
