The vehicle or vessel under test enters a tunnel composed of pillars 70-80cm apart, each fitted with upper and lower ultrasonic sources. The width of tunnel between opposite pillars is of the order of 3m. and the overall length 40m for a transit time of 6 minutes on a conveyor. Additional sources radiate upwards from the midline of the tunnel floor. - A central station controls the transmitted power, and may apply FM for closer checks on a stationary vehicle or vessel. An operator within the compartment checks its sealing with an ultrasonic receiver .
