In a conveyor with successive crescent-shaped scales with convex and concave edges of the same radius, articulated to each other in order to constitute an assembly which is deformable in the horizontal direction, each scale is integral with a cross-piece 2 from which two arms 3 extend in the direction of the centre of the following scale 1' in order to become connected to a hub 4 in which is mounted an articulation spindle 6 which connects it in a pivoting manner to the cross-piece 2' of the said following scale 1' and which carries a fork 11 in which rotates a pulley 14 in the shape of a diabolo rolling on a cylindrical rail 15. Runners 20 hold the scales in the same plane and others prevent the assembly from pivoting about the rail 15. The driving is carried out locally by a short chain equipped with double stop pieces 29 which push rollers 19 mounted on the spindle of 14. <IMAGE>
